West Alabama Prep picks up first win of season in 48-8 blowout of East Memorial

 

The West Alabama Prep Titans came out with a vengeance after losing their first two games, winning easily in a 48-8 blowout of the East Memorial Wildcats.

The victory marked the first win of the season for the Titans.

With 9:00 remaining in the first quarter, the Titans’ Wesley Ballard ran the ball 27-yards for a touchdown and a quick 7-0 lead.

The second touchdown for WAP cam when Brock Halper ran in an 8-yard touchdown with 11:47 left in the first half.

With a 14-0 lead, Ballard again scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown to increase the Titans lead to 21-0.

With :32 ticks left in the second quarter, WAP scored again when Charlie Lee had an 8-yard touchdown run.

 

After Daniel McDowell missed his first extra point attempt of the night, the Titans led 27-0.

To add insult to injury, Halper picked off a pass with no time left in the first half and returned it 75-yards for the touchdown.

At halftime, the Titans led in the affair 34-0.

In the opening kickoff to begin the second half of play, Ballard returned the ball 72-yards for yet another WAP touchdown, increasing the Titans lead to 41-0.

With 1:03 remaining in the third quarter, Matt Bouler had a 48-yard touchdown run to bring the Titans lead to a commanding 48-0.

The Wildcats finally got on the scoreboard with 9:28 left in the game when Austin Barnett had a one-yard touchdown rush and Corey Lee connected on the two-point conversion.

Ballard led the Titans in rushing with 101 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns. Halper also had a huge impact, carrying the ball three times for 63 yards. Bouler and Lee also played a role with 54-yards apiece.

Another key point in the game is that the second string played the entire second half for WAP.

The Titans had every reason to celebrate as the final seconds ticked off the clock, walking away with a 48-8 romping and picking up win number one for the season.
