Bears Aims To Continue Coach Drew’s Mission, Hit The Road For Big 12 Showdown At Oklahoma State

By Denton Ramsey, NCAA Basketball Sportswriter

In less than 30 minutes, Baylor (17-5, 5-3 Big 12) and Oklahoma State (11-12, 2-7) will tipoff in a Big 12 showdown in Stillwater.

Coach Scott Drew’s Bears will be on the road in half of their remaining eight conference games, as the Baylor men’s basketball team has begun the 2008 season by matching their best start in Big 12 play.

Drew and the Bears are a remarkable story, and in my opinion they are the story of the year in NCAA Basketball as Baylor has risen from zero to hero in just under five years with one of the greatest coaches in college hoops history at the helm.

On the road this season, the Bears are 4-2, and overall in Stillwater Baylor holds a 2-20 mark – but it’s a new season, and Drew and the Big 12’s big surprise are all about breaking losing streaks and beginning winning ones.

Look for the Bears to continue to prove to the nation that they deserve respect as one of the top-notch teams in the country – with many more successful years to come with Coach Drew and his talented, deep Baylor bunch looking stronger every year.

Tipoff for tonight’s game is slated for 7 p.m. CT – just 15 minutes from now – and is not scheduled to be televised.

For audio/radio play-by-play, local listeners in the Waco area can tune to 1660 AM and the game will also be aired live through internet audio at
