Ramsey rejoins Granite Publications, named Managing Editor for Marlin Democrat


Denton Ramsey was recently hired as the new Managing Editor for the Marlin Democrat. The Democrat, under Granite Publications, is located in Marlin, Texas.

Ramsey’s prior jobs included stints in the Dallas area with the Grand Prairie Today as the Sports Editor as well as the Plano Star Courier and Allen American as Sports Editor.

Before Ramsey’s move to Dallas, he was a writer / Sports Editor for the Alpine Avalanche (also a part of Granite Publications), nestled in beautiful West Texas.

While working in Alpine, Ramsey met his wife, Rachel, and they were married on November 16, 2006 in Arlington, Texas.

Denton and Rachel are expecting their first child, Isabel Robin, in late March.

Prior to moving to Alpine, Ramsey worked as the Sports Editor for the Demopolis Times in West Alabama after doing free-lance work in Denton, Texas for both the Denton Record Chronicle and the Dallas Morning News.

Ramsey, 28, grew up in Houston, Texas and has two brothers, Hunter and Christian.

After graduating from Memorial High School, Ramsey went on to attend college at Baylor University in Waco, Texas from 1997-2001.

While at Baylor, Ramsey spent two years working for the Baylor Lariat as both the News Editor and as a sportswriter.

In addition, Ramsey was a writer on the high school newspaper staff during his first three years at Memorial and was co-editor of the Anvil during his senior year.
