Warriors Hoops Update: SGP defeats L.D. Bell, stays undefeated in district play

The South Grand Prairie Warriors varsity basketball team defeated Hurst L.D. Bell, 85-57 on the road on Friday, Jan. 5, improving their overall record to 16-3 overall while staying undefeated in district at 3-0.

Robert Ballard led the road Warriors with 27 points as SGP picked up their second victory in a row, blowing out the Raiders by 28 points at Hurst L.D. Bell High School.

Also chipping in for SGP was Donell Lewis with 15 points, Conwell Jackson with 11 points and Lindsey Hughey with 10 points.

Marshall Henderson led L.D. Bell with 20 points, while teammate David Thompson added 10 points.

South Grand Prairie used a solid first quarter offensive attack, scoring 33 points en route to a 19 point lead after one.

The Warriors took a 47-27 lead into halftime and never looked back, outscoring their opponent in every quarter.

SGP pushed their lead to 21 after three quarters of play, 61-40, before scoring 24 points in the final quarter as the Warriors push their latest win-streak to two games.

The SGP varsity basketball team returns to the court on Monday, Jan. 8 as the Warriors host Trinity.

Tip time for the Jan. 8 match-up is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at South Grand Prairie High School.
