It appears as though the South Grand Prairie Lady Warriors basketball team will be sitting on an even .500 record at 10-10 (2-0 in district) entering a district match-up against the Grand Prairie Lady Gophers on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at SGP High School.

After compiling a 2-2 record at the Dallas ISD Coca Cola Tournament, Dec. 28-30, the Lady Warriors now prepare to host the Lady Gophers on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.

Dec. 28 Highlights (Game One): Roosevelt 51, SGP 50

Roosevelt’s Adrienne Green and Trudy Armstead scored 17 points apiece to help propel the team to a 51-50 victory over the SGP Lady Warriors on Thursday, Dec. 28 in round one action of the Dallas ISD Coca Cola Tournament.

After SGP took a 26-19 lead into the half, Roosevelt managed to outscore the Lady Warriors 32-24 in the second half.

Tierra Williams led the Lady Warriors in scoring with 16 points, while teammate Ashlee Mells added 10 points.

Dec. 28 Highlights (Game Two): SGP 59, Carter 38

After falling into the losers bracket with a round one loss to Roosevelt, the SGP Lady Warriors destroyed Carter, 59-38 on Thursday, Dec. 28.

With the 21-point victory, the Lady Warriors advanced to play Molina on Friday, Dec. 29.

Dec. 29 Highlights: SGP defeats Molina

The Lady Warriors defeated Molina on Friday, Dec. 29 to advance to play Hebron in the consolation game at the Dallas ISD Coca Cola Tournament.

Dec. 30 Highlights: Hebron 55, SGP 46

Hebron was just too much for the Lady Warriors in the second half.

After taking a 27-25 lead into halftime, the Lady Warriors found themselves down just one after three quarters of play, 41-40.

But the fourth and final quarter was all Hebron, as the girls outscored the Lady Warriors 14-6 in the final frame.

Mells led all scorers with 27 points, but SGP managed to have only four girls in the scoring department.

For the Lady Warriors, Breanisha Byrd chipped in with 7 points and teammates Erin Lewis and Williams added 6 points apiece.

Allison King and Shelbey MacKay led Hebron in scoring with 12 points each.
