There’s nothing better than being hot during the cool winter weeks of December.

And the South Grand Prairie varsity boys’ basketball team has done just that – heating up early and staying hot through the Christmas break as the Warriors have now rattled off 10 straight.

The Warriors picked up an 82-56 blowout victory over district foe Jesuit on Tuesday, Dec. 21, as SGP improves to 12-1 overall and 1-0 in district.

South Grand Prairie took an early 20-12 lead after one quarter of play and never looked back en route to a 26-point win at Jesuit High School.

At halftime, the Warriors held onto a 39-26 lead before pushing their lead to 60-36 after three.

Lindsey Hughey led the Warriors in scoring with 17 points, while teammate Justin Monk chipped in with 16 points.

Also scoring in double figures for SGP was Donell Lewis with 13 points, Conwell Jackson with 11 points and Darius Gregory with 10 points.

The Warriors return to the court beginning Dec. 28 at the Plano Wildcat Classic before returning home to host district rival Grand Prairie on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Meanwhile, the Lady Warriors varsity basketball team hits the road for the Dallas ISD Coca Cola Tournament beginning Dec. 28 before retuning home on Jan. 2 to host Grand Prairie.

Tip time for the Jan. 2 Lady Warriors varsity game is set for 6 p.m. at SGP High School, with the Warriors varsity team tipping off at the conclusion of the girls game at 7:30 p.m.
