Grand Prairie Middle Schools tip-off new hoops season

Jackson 52, Truman 41

The Jackson 7th Grade Boys A-Team picked up a 52-41 victory over Truman to win their first game of the season on Dec. 7 at Truman Middle School.

Leading scorers were Marquinton Grant with 19 points and Javon Austin with 12 points.

Truman 48, Jackson 19

The Jackson 7th Grade Girls A-Team dropped their season opener, 48-19 to Truman on Dec. 7 at Jackson Middle School.

Jackson 44, Truman 15

The Jackson 7th Grade Boys B-Team opened their season with a 44-15 victory over Truman on Dec. 4 at Jackson Middle School.

Leading scorers were Amon Holmes with 16 points and Bruno Ifebi with 8 points.

Truman 35, Jackson 18

The Jackson 7th Grade Girls B-Team dropped a 35-18 decision to Truman on Dec. 4 at Truman Middle School in both team’s season opener.

Jackson 61, Truman 39

The Jackson 8th Grade Boys A-Team won their first game of the season with a 61-39 victory over Truman on Dec. 7 at Truman Middle School.

Leading scorers were Deion Houston with 23 points and Trey Norris with 13 points.

Jackson 54, Truman 51

The Jackson 8th Grade Girls A-Team picked up a three-point victory over Truman on Dec. 7 at Jackson Middle School.

For the Lady Eagles, the win opens the new season with a 1-0 mark in a come-from-behind victory over Truman.

Leading scorers were Jasmine Marshall with 18 points and Meagan Michelle with 14 points.

Truman 39, Jackson 23

The Jackson 8th Grade Boys B-Team dropped their season opener, 39-23 to Truman on Dec. 4 at Jackson Middle School.

Leading scorers were Cole Parrish with 9 points, Mikey Faulkner with 6 points and Aj Ifebi with 6 points.

Reagan 50, Jackson 34

The Jackson 8th Grade Girls B-Team dropped a 50-34 decision to Reagan on Dec. 8 at Truman Middle School in both team’s season opener.

Jackson 43, Kennedy 31

The Jackson 7th Grade Girls A-Team picked up a 43-31 victory over Kennedy on Dec. 9 at Truman Middle School.

Jackson 48, Adams 37

The Jackson 7th Grade Girls A-Team defeated Adams, 48-37 on Dec. 9 at Truman Middle School.

Jackson 47, Kennedy 28

The Jackson 8th Grade Girls A-Team knocked off Kennedy, 47-28 on Dec. 9 at Jackson Middle School.

Truman 18, Jackson 17

The Jackson 8th Grade Girls B-Team fell to Truman Middle School, 18-17 on Dec. 4 at Truman.

For the Lady Eagles, the loss was a bitter ending to a game that came down to the buzzer.

Leading scorers for Jackson were Latisha and Lamesha Johnson with 4 points each.

The entire team put forth a great defensive effort in the one-point loss at Truman.

Lee 55, Reagan 50

The Lee 8th Grade Boys A-Team defeated Reagan, 55-50 on Dec. 7 at Reagan Middle School.

The Lee Bears played a tough defensive game to come from behind and defeat the Knights.

The victory was a total team effort from Eric Ojeda, Gabriel Lopez, Leo Soto, Alfonso Davis, Martin Gonzalez, Jesus Perez, Cori Featherston and O’shea Scholet.

Adams 63, Lee 33

The Lee 8th Grade Boys A-Team played in the Adams Holiday Tournament during the Dec. 8 weekend at Adams Middle School.

In the first game, they were defeated by Adams 63-33.

Reagan 43, Lee 17

In the second game of the Adams Holiday Tournament, the Lee 8th Grade Boys A-Team had a tough time shooting and fell to the Reagan Knights, 43-17.

Eric Ojeda led the Bears in scoring for the tournament with 23 points in two games.

All of the team members (Gabriel Lopez, Eric Ojeda, Paul Armenta, Cori Featherston, Leo Soto, Jesus Perez, Martin Gonzales, Alfonso Davis, David Munoz, and O’shea Scholet) played very well.

Reagan 32, Lee 21

The Reagan 7th Grade Boys B-Team picked up a 32-21 victory over Lee in both team’s season opener on Dec. 4 at Lee Middle School.

With the victory, the Reagan 7th Grade White Team starts off season with a 1-0 record.

For Lee, the team lost a hard fought game to the Reagan Knights.

For the Bears, Martin Gomez led the team with 5 points while Christian Perez and Homer Frias each added 4 points.

Defensively for Lee, Alejandro Morales, Alex Macedo and Alan Hernandez were standouts.

Reagan 35, Lee 16

The Reagan 8th Grade Boys B-Team picked up a 35-16 victory over Lee on Dec. 4 at Lee Middle School.

With the win, Reagan’s 8th Grade White Teams tips off the season with a 1-0 mark.

Reagan 36, Lee 20

The Reagan 8th Grade Girls B-Team defeated Lee, 36-20 on Dec. 4 at Lee Middle School in both team’s season opener.

Reagan 22, Lee 16

The Reagan 7th Grade Girls B-Team began their season with a 22-16 victory over Lee on Dec. 4 at Lee Middle School.

Reagan 42, Lee 15

The Reagan 8th Grade Girls A-Team defeated Lee, 42-15 on Dec. 7 at Lee Middle School to begin the new season with a 1-0 record.

Arnold 58, Adams 57

The Arnold 8th Grade Boys A-Team picked up a wild one-point victory over Adams on Dec. 7 at Adams Middle School to open up their hoops season at 1-0.

Adams 43, Arnold 41

The Arnold 7th Grade Boys A-Team dropped a 43-41 decision to Adams on Dec. 7 at Adams Middle School.

Reagan 49, Lee 22

The Reagan 7th Grade Girls A-Team destroyed Lee, 49-22 in their season opener on Dec. 7 at Lee Middle School.

 

Kennedy 21, Arnold 16

The Kennedy 8th Grade Boys B-Team defeated Arnold, 21-16 on Dec. 11 at Arnold Middle School.

Kennedy 8, Arnold 6

The Kennedy 7th Grade Boys B-Team picked up a two-point victory over Arnold, 8-6 on Dec. 11 at Arnold Middle School.

Jackson 28, Lee 16

The Jackson 8th Grade Boys B-Team defeated Lee, 28-16 on Dec. 11 at Jackson Middle School.

Leading scorers were Mikey Faulkner, Cole Parrish and Juric Brown with 5 points apiece.

Lee 36, Jackson 25

The Jackson 8th Grade Girls B-Team fell to Jackson, 36-25 on Dec. 11 at Lee Middle School.

Michila Fight led the scoring with 8 points.

Destiny Riles added 5 points while Lamesha and Latisha Johnson each had 4 points.

Jackson 44, Lee 16

The Jackson 7th Grade Boys B-Team destroyed Lee, 44-16 on Dec. 11 at Jackson Middle School.

Leading scorers were Misael Acosta with 16 points and Da’Viante Butler with 8 points.

Lady Knights win 3rd place

In the Friday night’s game in the Jackson tournament, the Lady Knights defeated Lee, 42-19. Top scorers were Destiny Jarmon with 11 points and Kileah Mays with 8.
Saturday morning’s game against Truman proved to be a heart breaker when the ladies lost, 30-29.  High scorer was Destiny Jarmon while Haylee Merrill and Kileah Mays each added 4 points each.

To win 3rd place the Lady Knights defeated Jackson, 25-19.  High scorers were Kileah Mays and Haylee Merrill with 8 points each. Brittnee Johnson added 5 points and Kat Strunk chipped in with 4 points.

Reagan 24, Adams 20

The Reagan 8th Grade Girls B-Team knocked off Adams, 24-20 on Dec. 11 at Adams Middle School.

Good hustle from Julie Tran, Mareesa Johnson, Karley McIntosh and Melissa Delane.

Adams 29, Reagan 25

The Reagan 8th Grade Boys B-Team dropped a 29-24 decision to Adams on Dec. 11 at Reagan Middle School.

Reagan picks up 1st place at tourney

The Reagan 7th Grade Girls B-Team won Friday night’s game against Lee, 42-19, with Rachel Scruggs scoring 11 points and Sierra Johnson adding 8.
In Saturday morning’s game against Jackson the Lady Knights won, 50-34. High scorers were Lauren Darthard with 14 points, Rachel Scruggs with 8 points and Adrian Lee with 9 points.
In the championship game against Truman the Lady Knights won, 51-46. Adrian Lee led the scoring with 10 points, Sierra Johnson and Rachel Scruggs both had 8 points each and Chelsea Koduah added 7 points to help polish off the victory.

Reagan 29, Adams 18

The Reagan 7th Grade Girls B-Team knocked off Adams, 29-18 on Dec. 11 at Adams Middle School.

Reagan 21, Adams 14

The Reagan 7th Grade Boys B-Team beat Adams, 21-14 on Dec. 11 at Reagan Middle School.

Reagan takes homes 1st place in Lee Invitational

The Reagan 7th Grade Boys A-Team won the Lee tournament by defeating Arnold in the championship game, 48-32.

Reagan defeated Jackson, 59-58, in their Saturday morning game after being victorious over Adams in the Friday night opening game.  The score was 49-22.

Jackson 65, Kennedy 52

The Jackson 7th Grade Boys A-Team picked up a 65-52 victory over Kennedy on Dec. 8 at Lee Middle School.

Reagan 59, Jackson 58

The Jackson 7th Grade Boys A-Team dropped a one-point decision, 59-58, to Reagan on Dec. 9 at Lee Middle School.

Jackson 39, Lee 27

The Jackson 7th Grade Boys A-Team picked up a 39-27 victory over Lee on Dec. 9 at Lee Middle School.
