Grand Prairie’s Jeremy Seiter has done it once again.

Seiter’s two goals helped propel the DeSoto/Grand Prairie Knights hockey team to a 3-1 victory over Frisco on Thursday, Dec. 7 at the Duncanville Green rink.

Frisco scored first, at the 9:56 mark in the first period, when Jordan Stevenson took a pass from David Gerbert and pushed the puck past Knights goalie Matthew Padgett for a power play goal.

But that was all Frisco would get past Padgett all night.

At the 7:54 mark in the second period, the Knights dead-locked the game at 1-1 on a power play goal by Seiter, assisted by Wesley Rea and Joseph Aprile.

“The game was tied 1-1 till late in the third period when Jeremy Seiter scored a goal on the power play which broke the tie,” Knights head coach Kenny Tyler said. “Our guys played a good game, only taking seven penalties for the game. The other team had 11 penalties, and that was the key to taking over in the third period.”

Just 1:12 into the third and final period, the Knights took a 2-1 lead on an unassisted goal by Seiter.

And the Knights hammered the nail into the coffin at the 2:16 mark in the frame, when Carlos Delafuente scored an unassisted goal to give the home team a 3-1 lead.

“Goalie Matt Padgett made saves when we needed them most,” Tyler said. “Carlos Delafuente scored the third and final goal to take all the life out of Frisco.”

On the night, the Knights out-shot their opponent 34-13.

With the victory, the Knights improve to 8-1-1 overall, good for 17 points and a first-place standing in the Varsity Silver Division.

Grand Prairie’s Seiter leads the team in five categories with 29 points, 15 assists, 14 goals, 4 power play goals and 1 short-handed goal.

Brandon Christianson leads the Knights in penalty minutes with 91 and goalies Connor Joyner and Padgett lead the team in wins with 3 apiece.

The Knights return to the ice on Thursday, Dec. 14 at the Duncanville Green rink to face-off against Birdville.

The puck is set to drop at 9:30 p.m. for the Dec. 14 match-up between DeSoto/Grand Prairie and Birdville.
