G.P.A.W. Grizzlies continue successful season

The Grand Prairie Association of Wrestling (G.P.A.W.) Grizzlies brought home 15 medals after competing in the Oak Cliff YMCA Classic (Rookie/Novice) at Bishop Dunn High School on Nov. 18.

With over 220 participants, the G.P.A.W. Grizzles took 19 kids to the event and 15 came home with medals.

In the Tots Division, 5 and under, the Grizzlies’ 36-pound Willhoite took home a second-place finish.

In the Division 1 standings, 7 and under, three Grizzlies’ wrestlers took home medals.

72-pound Justin Alkins took a third-place finish, 80-pound Sanchez took home first-place and 80-pound Drake Wayland took home third-place.

In Division 2 standings, 9 and under, the Grizzlies took home eight medals.

55-pound Barnes took first-place, 55-pound Mullens took second-place, 55-pound Willhoite took third-place, 58-pound Silva took second-place, 61-pound Murray took second-place, 70-pound Temple took third-place, 83-pound Armijo took third-place and 92-pound Walker took first-place.

In Division 3 standings, 11 and under, the Grizzlies took home two medals – 90-pound Murray took first-place and 110-pound Armijo took third-place.

In Division 4 standings, 13 and under, the Grizzlies took home one medal for 110-pound Temple, who took home a second-place finish.

In addition, the Grizzlies took 17 wrestlers to the Grapevine events held this past weekend at Grapevine Middle School and received 10 medals.
