SGP Girls Hoops Update: Lady Warriors go 1-1

The South Grand Prairie Lady Warriors varsity basketball team fell 51-43 to Arlington Lamar on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at South Grand Prairie.

A poor second period in which the Lady Warriors were outscored 15-6 gave Arlington Lamar a comfortable 29-16 lead.

But the Lady Warriors battled back in the second half, outscoring their opponent 27-22 in the losing effort.

Leading the way in scoring for SGP was Tiera Williams with 11 points and Breanisha Byrd with 10 points.

Megan Westmoreland led Arlington Lamar with 21 points.

Nov. 20 Highlights: SGP 54, Plano East 49

The South Grand Prairie Lady Warriors varsity basketball team picked up an impressive 54-49 victory over Plano East on Monday, Nov. 20 at Plano East High School.

After SGP outscored Plano East 21-9 in the opening period, the home team managed to outscore the Lady Warriors 13-3 in the second to hit the locker room with a 24-22 SGP lead.

And the Lady Warriors hung on in the second half en route to their five-point road victory against Plano East.

South Grand Prairie’s Ashlee Mells led the team in scoring with 15 points while teammates Breanisha Byrd added 14 points and Tiera Williams chipped in with 10.
