ASTROS ADDICTION: Willy’s wild ways push streak to 29 straight, rain delays start of today’s rubber game…

Willy Taveras is going for 30 today – that’s right, the Astros speedy outfielder pushed his personal hit-streak to 29 straight games with a leadoff double yesterday evening, and he’s aiming for 30 this afternoon.

Due to heavy rainfall, the start of the Astros rubber game of the series against the Pirates has been delayed.

But once the rains subside, Houston’s Jason Hirsch will be battling Pittsburgh’s Shawn Chacon as the Astros aim to get back on track.

Although Houston’s struggles seem at times to be overwhelming for fans and players alike, the Astros are only 7 games out of the N.L. Central.

So is there still a chance?

Well, yeah… there is.

We have a long way to go, but there’s still hope.

And where there’s hope, there’s Houston.

Let’s not forget this is the city which came back from a 3-1 deficit in a best-of-seven series with the Rockets back in the day.

We were Clutch City then, and we can return the city to those glory days of the past by the Astros pushing for a playoff spot – and accomplishing that goal in the hunt for October.

There’s only about a month of games left to find out how we’ll fare, but any team with the Rocket, the Wizard and Andy Pettitte as their top three pitchers has a damn good chance in my opinion.

So until Pittsburgh’s pain stops falling, let’s keep on praying for an Astros miracle.

Go Astros!
