08.10 ASTROS TODAY: Roy O goes deep as Astros destroy Pirates 14-1, Rocket on the mound tonight as Houston aims for clean sweep

The Houston Astros have now won two straight, knocking off the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-1 on Tuesday night before an offensive outburst gave the home team a 14-1 win last night.

The rubber game of the series is tonight at Minute Maid Park, with Houston’s Rocket on the mound as the Astros aim for a clean sweep at home sweet home.

Houston’s wild win last night at Minute Maid Park just shows what this team can do.

The Astros got their first homerun from a pitcher this season last night, as Roy Oswalt sent a Pirates pitch into the Crawford Boxes to help propel Houston’s offensive outing which resulted in 14 runs crossing the plate.

Tuesday’s conclusion was just as sweet, as Houston closer Brad Lidge appeared to be back in top-notch shape with his perfection pitching to pick up the save.

Last night, there was no need for a save situation as the Wizard controlled Pittsburgh – both offensively and defensively.

And tonight, Houston hometown legend Roger Clemens takes the mound for the Astros in an effort to pick up a Minute Maid sweep over the Pirates.

All the action begins tonight at 7:05 p.m. on FSN Houston.
