Lady Bucks win district, defeat Kermit 12-2

The Alpine High School Lady Bucks varsity softball team clinched the District 1-AA championship on Saturday night with an impressive 12-2 victory over visiting Kermit.

With the 10-run victory, the Lady Bucks avoided having to play a winner-take-all game against Kermit for a tiebreaker.

Alpine jumped out to an early 4-2 lead after falling behind 2-0 heading into the bottom of the first inning.

For starting pitcher Emily Morrow, the two runs in the first were the only runs surrendered in the game as the Lady Bucks went on to destroy Kermit with a powerful offense and potent defense.

The AHS softball team concludes their regular season this afternoon at 4 p.m. as the Lady Bucks travel to Midland Christian before beginning postseason play.

Playoff match-ups for the Lady Bucks will be announced in next week’s issue of the Avalanche.
