The American Cancer Society’s 2006 Relay For Life event, with the theme “Lights, Camera, Action,” will begin tomorrow, April 21 at 4 p.m. with Team Registration and will conclude with the Closing Ceremonies on April 22 at 8:45 a.m.

The Luminaria Ceremony will be held beginning at 10 p.m. tomorrow night, April 21 at the Sul Ross Track.

Several important dates and times to remember:

€ TONIGHT (April 20): Bank Night from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at West Texas National Bank.

All team money must be turned in at this time and all cash must be in the form of a money order. Team T-shirts will be issued after your money is turned in.

€ TOMORROW (April 21): All donations of finger foods, snacks and fruit are welcome and will be greatly appreciated.

Food may be taken to the Rinconada until 3 p.m. and then taken to the Sul Ross Track at the big tent. Everyone is welcome to come out and join in the festivities.

There will be several vendors selling foods, snacks and drinks for a nominal charge. The Sheriff’s Department will be on site with a hamburger stand and the Family Crisis Center will have burritos, frito pie, popcorn and hot chocolate.

* TOMORROW (April 21): Survivor Registration will begin at 5:15 p.m. at the Small Tent with the Opening Ceremony starting at 6 p.m.

Master of Ceremonies will be Craig Stewart of KOSA-TV. Many other events are planned during the evening. Laps will officially begin at 7 p.m.

Other fun events include Youth games, Tug O’ War, SudoKu Puzzle, Bean Count, Paper Airplane toss, Volleyball and Karaoke. A ‘Best Bed Hair Contest’, a ‘Scavenger Hunt’ and a ‘Best Dressed Movie Character’ contests are also planned for the early morning hours.

The Big Bend Unit extends their appreciation to the entire community for their help in putting on this event and we look forward to seeing all of you at this year’s Relay For Life.
