DHS varsity baseball team gets 10-0 win

DEMOPOLIS – The Demopolis High School varsity baseball team defeated Choctaw County, 10-0, on Tuesday night at home.

Devin Goodwin (4-2) picked up the win for DHS, throwing a complete game (five innings) on two hits and nine strikeouts.

Leading the way offensively for the Tigers was Chad Schroeder, who hit a triple, Seth Basinger, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Hunter Hawley, who went 1-for-2, and Colby Roberts, Bart Pettus, and William Meador each picked up a hit.

“We’re just not mentally approaching the game like we’re supposed to – period,” DHS head coach James Moody said. “And we’re not playing very well right now. Most people would not say that about a team that is 16-7, but I just expect a little bit more out of this group.”

After Tuesday’s win over Choctaw County, coach Moody sat down with his players and had a “heart-to-heart” talk about the season.

“There is no doubt that the ability and talent are there,” Moody said. “Now we just have to get headed in the right direction. The best part of our game against Choctaw County was Devin on the mound. His last four or five outings have really been great.”
