DHS golf team defeats West Blocton, 161-220

DEMOPOLIS – The Demopolis High School golf team got things started off on the right foot with a 161-220 victory over West Blocton at The Ravine on Tuesday afternoon.

The teams split into groups throughout holes 1-9 to begin the tournament, and the top four scores count towards a team’s total.

The longest hole through the front nine at The Ravine is No. 8, boasting a 435-yards par five.

The shortest hole through the front nine is No. 7, spanning only 102-yards in a par three that overlooks a giant ravine (the name of the course speaks for itself).

Leading the way for Demopolis was Bryan Padilla with a 35 (par through the front nine holes). John Parden totaled a 40, Chris Hill hit a 41, and Will Ayers shot a 54.

Van Waldrop also shot a 54 and Matthew Davenport ended the day with a 55.

The DHS golf team returns to the course this afternoon in a rematch against West Blocton.

The match will take place at the Centreville Cahaba Heights Country Club, with tee-time scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
