Team pulls together after Ivan

After the wrath of Hurricane Ivan swept through the Alabama area, the Demopolis football team is preparing for their upcoming game against 5A Northridge on the road.

Memorial Stadium, the home field for the Demopolis Tigers, avoided all major complications.

“There are a few trees down, but there is no damage to our field,” defensive coordinator Freedy Lawrence said.

The Tigers game on Friday marks their first against a 5A foe, this one coming against the Northridge Jaguars on the road.

“I hope the first minute of the game is a good, close game,” Lawrence said. “After that, I hope its still a good game. I just hope the score isn’t close.”

The Tigers were on the field on a beautiful Monday afternoon in preparation for Friday’s game.

“The humidity is low, which is great for us,” Lawrence said. “We enjoy practices like this.”

After viewing tapes of Northridge, Lawrence is hoping the team is up to the task of defending their undefeated streak.

“Those guys [at Northridge] looked pumped up and ready to play,” Lawrence said. “We’re looking forward to playing them on Friday.”

If the past games note anything, Friday’s game should be another great one, and hopefully will mark another win for the Tigers.
